Description A group of 26 staphylococcal strains collected from human clinical specimens or hospital environment and classified as Staphylococcus petrasii were investigated in order to elucidate their genotypic and phenotypic diversity. The strains were isolated in different routine clinical laboratories in the Czech Republic between 1994 – 2013. They were recovered mainly from children or older patients, often immunocompromised, indicating the typical coagulase negative staphylococcal pathogenic behaviour of this species.
