Description In our contribution the reasons of unsuccessfulness of mathematically talented pupils are discussed. First part of the work deals with importance and role of mathematics in past and present. Characteristics of gifted pupils and the way of their education is discussed in second part of the contribution. The conclusion deals with motivation as one of the methods improving interest of pupils gifted and less gifted in mathematics.
