Description Titanium and its alloys are the most often used materials in dental implantology due to their physical and chemical properties, biocompatibility and resistance to the oral cavity environment. Research into the physical, chemical and biological aspects and interactions with the environment of the oral cavity, tissues around the implant surface and titanium alloy attract more and more attention. In this review paper we try to provide a present-day view of evaluation of various aspects of corrosion and the biocompatibility of titanium implants, superstructural parts and the importance of possible research strategies applied in this area, which have an impact on successful implant treatment.
