Description | We have identified a new putative lectin from Pisum sativum using SDS-PAGE and MS analysis of highly purified pea amine oxidase where it was present as an impurity. This study was aimed at the production of this protein in a eucaryotic expression system and its structure-function characterization. As production of the native protein was found very low, we have compared two yeast expression systems - Pichia pastoris and Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Advantages/disadvantages of both approaches will be discussed in detail. |
