| Description | In the past the whole range of personalities (e.g. Fichte, Humboldt, Schleiermacher, Hegel, Newman, A. Smetana, K. Jaspers etc.) expressed their opinions about the question of the role of university. The historical tradition stabilized on the concept of university as a community – free and functionally structured association of free and responsible members, which is endowed with a specific ethos and fulfils quite an irreplacible role in promoting key, civilisation values. However, at present the idea of university itself is “corroding“, the original ethos of university community is endangered from outside as well as from inside. That is why the revealing of the reasons for that change should become not only the topic of academic discussions, but also in the first place the starting point for seeking the correction of unhealthy trends and pressures which is university education at present exposed to. The problem is that the idea should not change into a mere university myth.This paper is output of analysis of this part of professional ethics in CR and SR. |
