Societal challenges, such as climate change, population ageing, and social inequality, represent the global priorities of the 21st century. Innovations and innovation policies are argued to be necessary components of the solution. Thus, the project explores the Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) approach (a set of mechanisms for managing science, technology, and innovation to achieve socially desirable outcomes), focusing particularly on the regional dimension of RRI, which represents one of the current research directions. Specific attention will be given to connecting RRI with related approaches and discussing the position of territories in sustainability transitions. The project is thematically related to the focus of the proposer's PhD thesis and research topics addressed at the Department of Regional Economics and Administration.
