Since 1990 the position of border regions - mainly toward western industrial members of EU - is changing from peripheral to transit (mediating) space profitting from exposed location. The project is aimed on social-economical development of border region s under processes of internal transformation and approaching toward the existing European structures. Basically the subject is divided as follows: a) research of changes within the socio-economic structure of the Borderland including an influece of a Cro ss-Border cooperation and regional policy of the Czech Republic, b) factors of integration of Czech Republic into the EU on regional level. The project is centred on identification on specific features of border areas within the regional development of the CR (applied survey) and simultaneously contribute to a general theory of regional development (basic survey).
