The project’s focus is to increase competitiveness of doctoral degree study graduates by implementation of innovative elements of internationalization, individualization and flexibility of studies.

Within the project implementation, the common base of 5 fields of study will be re-defined and new subjects of the common base will be defined, giving students more possibilities to choose while preserving specific graduates’ profile.

An important element will be establishment of a standardized system of practice and fellowship stays abroad, providing students with the opportunity to improve their language skills significantly. This will be complemented with participation of foreign specialists in classes, with an innovative component of direct tutoring of students’ doctoral theses.

Some standards will be newly defined for classes, reflecting the situation in the EU and the USA including the use of relevant specialized literature.

Project Objectives

The objective of the project is complex innovation of doctoral degree studies with the aim of better reflecting the needs of the labour market on regional and national scale and allowing for a wider co-operation with companies and organizations of the public sector in the area of science and research. The core of the innovation process is re-definition of key subjects within the doctoral degree studies while emphasising greater possibilities of study individualization for each student.

The entire process of learning foreign languages within the project of doctoral degree studies will be innovated, emphasising applied knowledge and students’ practice and stays abroad as one of the key elements. Higher mobility will increase the graduates’ chances in the labour market, contributing also to their overall personal development.

An important element of the innovation is participation of foreign lecturers in students’ tuition, these top experts will become a totally unique element in the doctoral degree students’ tuition. Foreign tutors will help establish links with international scientific teams and further enhance the component of internationalization of the studies. Previous analyses, carried out by the Faculty of Economics and Administration of the MU, showed that this element is missing in the overall concept of incorporating foreign experts in the process of doctoral degree studies. A complementary effect is implementation of optional and mandatory subjects, which will be taught in foreign languages by foreign lecturers. The introduction of new courses in foreign language will increase the attractiveness of doctoral degree study programmes for students, better responding to the requirements of employers or scientific institutions.

The project deliverables will be 5 innovated doctoral fields, fully reflecting the requirements of the labour market for knowledge economy and building the scientific-research potential usable by companies or entities of the public sector.
